I have a goal this year to blog at the end of every month and recap what I did. Quiet hilarious to me that it's February 9, which means I'm already over a week late to posting this.
I constantly go back and forth on whether or not I want to mingle my personal life and my professional life, but I've put my foot down and decided that if my audience has no part of me to relate to, then why am I even here. The whole point of what I do is to connect.
Connect to people, to clients, to readers, to looky-loos who are just here out of curiosity. I'm not judging, I do it too. Which is even more reason as to why it feels right to share parts of me that many may not know.
So January was a crazy month. To be honest, no work actually got done... Well, maybe 2 solid days worth where I put noise-cancelling headphones on for the entire day.
My mom flew in right after New Years day and was here for 2 weeks. It was so good to have her here, and to solidify her decision to eventually retire here with us. From this post alone, you'll learn just how important family is to me.
After mom went back to the mainland, my husband left for a work trip for 5 days, and my mother-in-law left shortly after 2 weeks in the Philippines. While my husband and mother-in-law were out of town, I watched over my sister-in-law to help her get around and help her with day-to-day kine things.
So my entire month was completely family-first. Not much work got done, and I can't say I regret it because time with the people I love most is really my first priority.
I did get to get together with my good friend and fellow artist Natasha Young and I had the immense privilege to see her newest painting in progress. SO HONORED. She is so insanely talented. Hope you folks check her out!
I didn't want to post too many spoilers of her work, so instead I'm featuring mostly her work space. I'm always so newly inspired whenever I hang out with her. The key to keeping your artistic eye in tact: Hang out with artists who's art you genuinely are inspired by. Every time I hang out with my favorite artist ladies, I come home amped up and ready to work on my own personal projects.
Which reminds me.. I'm working on a series right now that involves soooo much love and attention to detail it's insane. Don't worry, I'm documenting what I'm working on and I can't wait to just finish up with the first piece. I'll get there.
So with that, I leave you until next time.
